What is Shopify? How is it different?

Let’s understand the primary difference between Shopify and Other Ecommerce solutions.

Shopify is an SaaS platform that comes with in-built tools to ‘BUILD & MANAGE” your online store. It is not a E-commerce framework, Magento is a Ecommerce framework. (We can discuss the difference between platform and framework in a different post)

Why Shopify?
Shopify is very popular because of its simple design and ease of use.

Most importantly, if you are a self starter and don’t have much experience in E-commerce, still you want to build an online store, Shopify is the only best choice available as of now.

Shopify is as good as a Plug n Play model and therefore, You don’t need any coding knowledge.

Store is yours, but you don’t own the code. Shopping is a hosted solution and therefore, every other bit belongs to Shopify, you just get to use it as long as you pay monthly subscription.

Various plans available

Shopify Lite:$9 per month
You can choose this plan, if you are selling through Social Media, in person or an Existing blog or website

Basic Shopify: $29 per month
This is the most popular Ecommerce plan in India which includes secure, unlimited ecommerce hosting as well.

Shopify: $79 per month
If you are more concerned about the reports.

Advanced Shopify: $299 per month
For more advanced Ecommerce features like shipping calculations based on various criteria, etc.

Shopify comes with a lot of Free tools, Free Stock photos, Free and paid themes. It also supports 3rd party apps and API-ready for Logistics and Payment solutions. Yes, there is a transaction fees on every transaction which varies as per the plan.

Flipside of Shopify is, When there is a plan for $299, Obviously $29 per month plan will have less feature. But to start with, its worth foregoing those advanced features.

Hence, Just go ahead and pick a plan which is suitable for your business. When you want to scale up you can opt for Shopify Gold.. and if you ask, whether I can move out of Shopify at some stage? Yes, but it comes with strings attached.
